Camila Messari

A graduate in communication from Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, I have been working in this project as a research assistant since February 2019. Although my studies mainly focus on media production, I started to be interested in anthropology after taking an introductory course to the subject offered by Professor Catherine Therrien. As a result of taking this course, I was able to conduct my own ethnographic research on Moroccans who have converted to Christianity in the Moroccan context, a topic that has intrigued me for some time. Since then, a new window of research has opened to me. As my passions are art and research, I was able to make a short documentary for my graduation project on the subject of contemporary tattooing in Morocco. As a child of a mixed couple myself, I jumped at the opportunity of participating in this research project. Having been first introduced to the project as a participant, I now have the honour of being part of the research team itself and of working as a research assistant.
