I completed a master’s degree in sociology from Université de Montréal (UdeM) in 2017. The topic of my master’s thesis was inspired by Josiane Le Gall and Deirdre Meintel’s research on mixed couples in Quebec. My master’s thesis focused on the experiences of women of mixed heritage from a First Nation community in Quebec. I explored some of the factors that influence the sense of cultural identity and belonging. I also explored the question of intergenerational transmission of culture.

Being from a mixed background myself (mother is French Canadian and father is Chinese), questions pertaining to the sense of identity and the transmission of culture in mixed families have always been of interest to me. Currently, I teach social science courses at the CEGEP level and I am working on a book project aimed at children (3 to 5 yrs. old) of mixed ethnic and racial backgrounds.
